American Banker – A remarkable transformation

Austin Capital Bank opened its doors in 2006 with a vision to serve an under-served community with forward-thinking products and services. Unfortunately, 2006 also happened to be the worst year in the history of the United States to start a bank. With the almost immediate onset of the global financial crisis and the great recession, almost a third of the 155 US banks started in 2006 were gone less than a decade later. This is the story of our the little community bank and how we went from being the worst performing bank out of 652 banks in the State of Texas in 2008, to being the 11th best performing bank in Texas just six years later. We take pride that we accomplishing this feat against all odds using our own perseverance and grit and not taxpayer-subsidized government bailout funds.
